Pumpkin Pie Flavors

Pumpkin pie is a traditional holiday treat most often eaten around Thanksgiving, but did you know that pumpkin pie comes in a variety of flavors? I’ve listed a few here to give you ideas of recipes to look for that would entice your family during the holidays…You might also try a different flavor of pumpkin pie for a change this year just to be different.

Some flavors that you can find recipes for online include: pumpkin pie cheesecake, pecan pumpkin pie, pumpkin cream cheese pie, sweet pumpkin pie, pumpkin puddin’ pie, apple butter pumpkin pie, maple pumpkin pie, pumpkin gingersnap pie, ginger pumpkin pie, tofu pumpkin pie, hazelnut pumpkin pie, cranberry pumpkin pie, pumpkin icecream pie, apple peach pumpkin pie, pumpkin rum pie, pumpkin pecan crumble pie, vegan pumpkin pie, and the most popular of them all just plain ole fresh pumpkin pie.

How many flavors of pumpkin pie are there you ask?  Countless….a different one for you to try on every holiday, so go ahead, mix it up a little this holiday season!

Frozen Yogurt Flavors and Recipes

Frozen yogurt is another favorite summer flavor. Frozen yogurt has a flavor that is similar to that of ice cream or sherbet, but it’s not as rich. It is much lighter tasting, and the flavors are usually as abundant as the flavors of ice cream – you’ll find vanilla frozen yogurt, chocolate frozen yogurt, strawberry frozen yogurt, and everything in between. What draws people to frozen yogurt is that it’s usually seen as a much healthier alternative to ice cream as it is much lower in fat.

There is a pretty good frozen yogurt recipe here. Basically, the recipe involves using vanilla, milk, sugar, gelatin, salt, corn syrup, and of course plain yogurt. You cook some of the ingredients, let them cool, combine the rest, chill them, then pour into an ice cream machine and freeze. The recipe above gives you the specifics.

Weird Ice Cream Flavors

We’ve already discussed Classic Ice Cream Flavors, so let’s discuss some weird ice cream flavors. Here are some of the weirdest flavors of ice cream I’ve seen….and most of them are Japanese ice creams! Seems they have the most unusual flavors….
1. Octopus Ice Cream – A Japanese specialty, octopus ice cream is an ice cream flavor that will not appeal to everyone. Part delicacy, part weirdness, octopus ice cream has to be number one on this list!

2. Bacon and Egg Ice Cream – Yes, this one is true – I am not making this up. Apparently some British restaurant named The Fat Duck serves it.

3. Chicken Wing Ice Cream – Another Japanese specialty – ice cream that actually has the flavor of fried chicken wings. MMMmmmm…

4. Eel Ice Cream – Yes, another Japanese flavor!

5. Wasabi Ice Cream – Japanese of course. A tangy-wasabi flavored ice cream.

what is flavor…how to taste…

What is flavor exactly and how do you taste?

Flavor is a “taste;” it is a substance that gives a particular sensory perception to your mouth. Your mouth, which contains thousands of taste buds will sense the particular flavor of which you are eating, the taste buds will then send out the signal and you will “taste” what you taste. Your nose often works in conjunction with your sense of taste…next time you have a cold or are sick you will notice that food and flavors do not taste the same as when you are feeling well.

Frozen fruit Smoothies Recipes and Flavors

Frozen fruit smoothies recipes here for your review right in time for summer!  The fruit is the main ingredient of the fruit smoothie – and because of this, smoothies come in as many flavors as there are fruits.

In order to change it up a little bit for summer, try this twist on your fruit smoothie: make it frozen!  A frozen fruit smoothie is  ideal for summer, and you can make it in a variety of refreshingly cool summer flavors…you might try the frozen Key Lime Smoothie  (key limes of course being the main ingredient), or how about a frozen banana-strawberry fruit smoothie?!  Or what about a frozen melon fruit smoothie?  Just the sound of these smothies is enough to cool you off!

Here’s a great recipe for a frozen fruit smoothie:

buy a bag of frozen mixed fruit (I like to buy mine in bulk from Sam’s – it gives enough fruit to make smoothies for an entire month!)  Add about 2.5 cups of frozen fruit, about 1 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of apple juice or orange juice, then sweeten the whole mixture with honey! Mix it in a blender until it’s all blended together the consistency of a thick shake.

It makes a delicious and refreshing drink – and not only are fruit smoothies flavorful and refreshing but they are also very healthY! Try it and make this fruit drink the flavor of your summer!
