The Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act is about putting the flavor of real chocolate back into the world! The real chocolate relief act is a program sponsored by Mars to give away 250,000 free chocolate bars every Friday through October 2009. Mars is proud of the fact that they have real chocolate – they claim their chocolate does not have artificial flavoring, but rather the flavor comes from the real cocoa butter it uses. They claim when you are buying chocolate to steer clear of packaging that uses the terms “chocolate flavor”, “chocolate coating”, “chocolaty”, or “made with chocolate”, and rather stick with items that say “milk chocolate,” “semi-sweet chocolate” or “bittersweet chocolate” to ensure you get not just the best flavor, but real chocolate in what you are buying.

One favorite summer treat – the Klondike bar – a chocolate-coated vanilla ice cream dessert with a picture of a polar bear on the wrapper -comes in a surprising variety of flavors! The six original flavors ice cream dating back to 1922 included:

cherry
A variety of flavors followed afterwards including cappuccino, caramel, york peppermint patty, neapolitan, reese’s, oreo, fudge, heath/toffee, and butterscotch.

Sweet Ice Tea is one of the best drinks for the summer. Sweet tea is commonly enjoyed in the southern states more than others, but it makes no difference which state you are in as long as you have some tea and sugar. Sweet tea is made from black tea leaves, brewed per the directions on the box, then infused with sugar water (or simple syrup) usually to taste. The taste for sweet tea drinkers is to have the tea sweet, very sweet, hence the sweet part in the name sweet tea. Since summer is here I would suggest making a nice pitcher of the iced tea, pouring it over a full cup of ice, and enjoying the refreshing flavors of sweet tea.
