Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act

The Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act is about putting the flavor of real chocolate back into the world! The real chocolate relief act is a program sponsored by Mars to give away 250,000 free chocolate bars every Friday through October 2009. Mars is proud of the fact that they have real chocolate – they claim their chocolate does not have artificial flavoring, but rather the flavor comes from the real cocoa butter it uses. They claim when you are buying chocolate to steer clear of packaging that uses the terms “chocolate flavor”, “chocolate coating”, “chocolaty”, or “made with chocolate”, and rather stick with items that say “milk chocolate,” “semi-sweet chocolate” or “bittersweet chocolate” to ensure you get not just the best flavor, but real chocolate in what you are buying.

Klondike bar

One favorite summer treat – the Klondike bar – a chocolate-coated vanilla ice cream dessert with a picture of a polar bear on the wrapper -comes in a surprising variety of flavors! The six original flavors ice cream dating back to 1922 included:
vanilla
strawberry
chocolate
grape
maple
cherry
A variety of flavors followed afterwards including cappuccino, caramel, york peppermint patty, neapolitan, reese’s, oreo, fudge, heath/toffee, and butterscotch.

The best of all these flavors though is the plain old traditional vanilla Klondike bar – one summer treat you’ve got to treat yourself to!

sweet tea

Sweet Ice Tea is one of the best drinks for the summer. Sweet tea is commonly enjoyed in the southern states more than others, but it makes no difference which state you are in as long as you have some tea and sugar. Sweet tea is made from black tea leaves, brewed per the directions on the box, then infused with sugar water (or simple syrup) usually to taste. The taste for sweet tea drinkers is to have the tea sweet, very sweet, hence the sweet part in the name sweet tea. Since summer is here I would suggest making a nice pitcher of the iced tea, pouring it over a full cup of ice, and enjoying the refreshing flavors of sweet tea.

There is nothing like a nice cup of hot coffee in the morning to wake you up. Add some cream or sugar, or just drink your coffee black! But why do that when there is such a wide variety of coffee flavoring to choose from. Some coffee flavorings come as syrups, dairy products, and even tablets to drop in your coffee to add a little bit of flavor.

Nestle Coffee-mate liquid coffee flavoring is a popular flavor product to add to your cup of coffee. Here are some of the flavors they offer in a liquid form:

msg

Msg is a flavor enhancer, but msg might be bad for you. The problem is that msg is found in many foods.
What is msg? msg is monosodium glutamate.
What are the dangers of msg?
msg side effects?
Watch the video and you be the judge. How can we avoid msg if it is found in so many foods?

I love chips, especially frito lay’s chips. The frito lay website has a list of products that have no msg.

new guava flavor

What is guava? Well, it’s not a new fruit. Guava in fact, has been tracked back to be around at the least a few hundred years old. Guava is grown in mostly tropical climates. The shape of the guava is usually round or oval and most of the time not more than 6 inches large. Guava fruit is commonly known to be full of vitamins, including vitamin C and A. Guava has also been know to be full of antioxidants. Guava is often used as a desert, and found is many jams and jelly’s. How do you eat a guava? Well, many people eat the guava fruit like an apple but if you do the flavor will be more bitter than usual. The benefit of eating it this way is to gain all of the vitamins the guava has to offer. You can also try cutting the guava in half and eating it from the inside out, avoiding the rind. Whichever way you do eat the guava, I’m sure you will love the flavor of this rich fruit.

brine

What is a brine?
Can you brine shrimp?
Can you brine chicken?

A brine recipe is a solution of water and salt that (your) particular piece of food product soaks in to make the food more moist and more flavorful. The longer the piece of meat soaks in the brine the greater the flavor and moist level will be.
The basic setup for a brine is water and salt. Place your piece of meat in a large bowl with water that has been salted, making sure the meat in completely submerged in the water and that you are using a large bowl. The salt in the brine: usually starting at 1/4 of salt, but this usually takes practice to achieve the flavor you want. The most common piece of meat people soak in a brine is chicken or turkey, making sure that when you do brine a piece of meat that it stays in the refrigerator during the brine process or else you risk bacteria. Once you get the hang of making a brine for your favorite cuts you will love the possibilities, flavor, and moistness of the meat you brine. Once you master the plain old water and slat brine, which is great by itself, you can explore endless possibilities of adding different herbs to the brine.

You can brine shrimp, you can brine chicken, you can brine turkey, you can brine beef! The list goes on and on! I suggest looking up a recipe for your particular piece of meat to see the different possibilities of the brine and the extras you can add to the brine. Just remember, add water, enough salt to help lock in the moisture, and always keep the brine in the refrigerator.
