One of the basic food groups, dairy (or sometimes referred to as the milk group) includes fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products. The food pyramid says you should take 3 cups per day from this food group.
This food group includes the following types of dairy products:
- MILK: Fat-free (skim) or low-fat (1%) milk or buttermilk
- CHEESE: fat-free, low-fat, or reduced-fat cheese
- YOGURT: fat-free or low-fat regular or frozen yogurt
